Project:                       Government              Topic:  How a bill becomes a law

Objective:  In whatever format you choose, the project must describe and diagram how a bill becomes a law in the United States.  The book has an example listed on page 305.  I have also attached that page to this handout. 

Choices:

1. Poster of individually designed diagram (different than the book)

2. Design a bill that you are going to put forth as a law. Write an explanation of the process of how this bill will become a law.  Describe an imaginary outcome.

3. You may write a skit with individuals playing the role of the Senate and House of Representatives and all the other components of congress.  Members must wear a nametag that indicates what part they are playing.

Grading Rubric

95    Complete inclusion of all parts and roles of Congress.  Well presented and original.  Very neat and succinct.

85    Almost all parts and roles concluded.  One or two steps omitted.  Presentation lacked finesse and fluency. Neatly presented.

75    More than two parts missing.  Steps omitted and presentation was lacking in fluency. Neatness is lacking.

65 The presentation was incomplete and content is lacking.  Neatness needs improving.
